How to Survive Middle School

Eleven-year-old David Greenberg dreams of becoming a TV superstar like his idol, Jon Stewart. But in real life, David is just another kid terrified of starting his first year at Harman Middle School. With a wacky sense of humor and hilarious Top 6½ Lists, David spends his free time making TalkTime videos, which he posts on YouTube.
But when David and his best friend have a fight, David is lucky enough to make a pretty cool new friend, Sophie—who just (gulp) happens to be a girl. Sophie thinks David's videos are hilarious, and she starts sending out the links to everyone she knows. Sophie's friends tell their friends, and before David knows it, thousands of people are viewing his videos—including some of the last people he would have expected.

  1. I have not finished this book yet, but from what i have read, it's a very good and interesting story. It's about a boy who is starting middle school, that has a run-away mom that doesn't have any way of communicating besides writing letters, and has show on youtube. He meets a girl in his advanced math class and she finds the videos hilarious, so she tells her friends and they tell theirs and before he knows it thousands of people are watching his videos. Thats as far as i have gotten but i can not put the book down!

  2. i just started this book yesterday, but what i have read so far, it's really good. It's about a boy named David Greenberg who posts talk show videos on Youtube. David lost his best friend and luckily made i new one (a girl named Sophie). Sophie loves David's videos so she decides to help him out by sending out the links to EVERYONE and tells her friends who tell their friends who tell their friends who tell thei friends, and so on. Eventually 1,000 people are viewing his videos.

    1. Hey, F6Burgess!! I was reading comments and yours made me want to read this book! I totally agree with you, great book! One thing though, I don't think you would have to be too mature to read this book, although you are able to relate to this book better if you are in middle school, like the kid is. BTW: I did love the hamster! BYEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! ;)

    4. i wanr a hamster but i don't want what happened to hammy to happen to my hamster. i agree with F1Lantz Castenada i think that any age group maybe from 4th or 5th grade and up but u can totally relate better if ur in middles school especially 6th graders because we all know how scared were or a least nervous about comming to middle school and i can relate to how david felt about his cousin jack because my family members and relatives were telling horrible things but the truth is that middle school really isnt that bad.

    1. Third-grade only refers to the vocabulary used in the book, not the content. In other words, you can write a very mature book using simple words. Some of the books you'll read in high school are written at a 4th grade level, but they're definitely NOT for 4th-graders!
